Our annual Recycling Raid will be Sunday, March 27, all over campus. Join EcoAction as we raid the waste disposals to see how much has or has not been recycled!
Learn about Oxfam Extractive Industries and Human Rights on Wednesday, March 30, location TBD. During the week of March 28, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights is hosting its 141st period of hearing sessions. Come watch Vanishing of the Bees on Thursday, March 31, in Hariri 160 @ 7:00 PM. There will be Georgetown Cupcakes, Honest Tea, and a local beekeeper! Filming across the US, in Europe, Australia and Asia, this documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the greater meaning it holds about the relationship between mankind and mother earth. Conflicting options abound and after years of research, a definitive answer has not been found to this harrowing mystery.
As I wrote in a previous post, RecycleMania is here! We are launching a Recycling WIN and FAIL project to tell the world how Georgetown students are doing with recycling. When you are walking around campus, look to see if recycling is being done properly. If it is, it is a WIN. If it is not (e.g. soda can in regular trash can), it is a FAIL. Once you observe this, take out a device with a camera whether it may be iPhone, droid, blackberry, regular phone, iPod, or your regular camera, take a picture, and send it to EcoAtion at gu.ecoaction@gmail.com.
Power Shift 2011 is almost here, too! This April 15-18, the movement for a clean energy future is coming to Washington, DC. Over 10,000 of us will stand together at Power Shift 2011 to reclaim our democracy and drive forward progress for a clean energy economy. If you are interested in going to Power Shift, send an email to EcoAction at gu.ecoaction@gmail.com or register online.
Finally, write for this blog! Email me, Madeline, at mec234@georgetown.edu and I can add you on as a contributor. We want to hear your voice, and anything green is up for grabs as a blog topic. Anyone who's interested in writing or photography for the blog should give it a shot!
